Computer Numerically Controlled - CNC machining
If you need plastic or metal parts in a production material before you commit to tooling, 3Dproparts™ provides CNC machined parts with the quality, speed and accuracy you need. CNC machined parts are also optimal for one-off custom parts used as jigs or fixtures and are available in virtually any material directly from your CAD data.
At 3Dproparts we use the latest conventional and high speed CNC machines for fast turnaround of high quality precision machined parts, tooling and machined metal castings. We are experienced in machining a wide variety of metals and plastic materials. Unlike other providers we will work from your specifications on the required material for your application.
Key benefits
CNC machined parts provide:
- Widest choice of materials
- Tight tolerance (+/- 0.003")
- Low cost part prices for one-off or short run production projects
- Multiple finishing options
Applications
CNC (subtractive) is the process of choice for geometries of large mass or when a specified material is required that is not available in an additive RP process (such as SLA, SLS, or 3D Printing Technologies). However, subtractive rapid prototyping is limited to shapes that can be cut out of a block of solid material using CNC equipment.
The Technology
CNC Machining is the process by which CNC equipment cuts away unwanted material from a solid block of material, leaving only the actual part.
Step by step:
- Starting with a 3D CAD file, CAM software produces a series of tool paths and machine commands needed to operate a CNC mill or lathe.
- Since any particular component might require the use of a number of different tools, modern machines often combine multiple tools into a single "cell".
